Kariya-City General Athletic Park is one of Aichi Prefecture’s major sports and recreation facilities, consisting of «Wing Arena Kariya», where Japanese Professional Basketball League games and Japan Volleyball League games are held, «Wave Stadium Kariya» and «Green Ground Kariya».

Tennen Onsen (Natural Hot Spring) Kakitsubata [15 minutes by car from the venue]

Renowned High-Quality Hot Spring from 1,200m Underground

Tennen Onsen Kakitsubata is a natural hot spring bath facility within Kariya Highway Oasis (amusement facility) and is one of the prefecture’s major hot springs. Its chloride spring with many other high-quality components is well known for turning the skin silky smooth after bathing in it. With the adjacent dining hall, this is a perfect place to relax the body and soul on a busy day filled with sightseeing and sports game spectating.

The «com-center» is an exhibition hall that was renovated in 2015 in commemoration of AISIN Group’s 50th anniversary. Open to all visitors without any time-limited tours, this facility showcases not only automobile parts, but also diverse technologies that enrich various aspects of our everyday life, such as energy development, all explained and displayed in layman’s terms. Yosami Radio Transmitting Station Memorial Museum [15 minutes by car from the venue]

Kariya’s Pride: The World-Class Yosami Radio Transmitting Station

Yosami Radio Transmitting Station was known to be the largest radio transmission station in the world when it was built in 1929. It is said this is where the war-time coded message of «Climb Mount Niitaka» was relayed to Japanese submarines for the Pearl Harbor Attack during World War II. After demolishment in 2006, a part of the station’s actual equipment was retained within the museum inside Floral Garden Yosami, which was established at the site of the demolished station.

Kisan [5 minutes by car from the venue]

Kariya Cuisine, Popular Since the Edo Period (1603 - 1868)

«Imokawa Udon (Japanese wheat noodles made in Imokawa, modern-day Kariya City)» was loved and cherished as food that satisfied hungry travelers traversing on Tokaido (the most important of the Five Routes of the Edo Period, connecting Kyoto to Edo, i.e., modern-day Tokyo). «Imokawa Udon» is also said to be the origin of «Kishimen (flat wheat noodles)». The local udon restaurant «Kisan» in modern-day Kariya reproduces this long-time local favorite, and has gained popularity among tourists and locals. The restaurant owner’s recommendation «Imokawa Udon Stewed in Miso» is a must-try speciality.
