Toyota Industries Sailing Club

Sera NAGAMATSU and Misaki TANAKA

Club to which Tanaka and Nagamatsu, an Asian Games silver medalist pair, belong

Misaki TANAKA and Sera NAGAMATSU, who entered the 49erFX class in women’s sailing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, belong to the Toyota Industries Sailing Club. The 49erFX class is for women’s two-handed skiffs, and it became an official Olympic class at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The two Toyota Industries sailors joined together in 2022 to compete as a pair. They are Waseda University alumni in a senior-junior relationship (with Nagamatsu being three university years senior to Tanaka), so they can perform in perfect harmony. The pair has a well-proven track record, including winning a silver medal at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou in 2023, a first for a pair of Japanese sailors. Although they finished in 17th place at the Olympic Games in Paris, they are expected to demonstrate their competence more fully as the top pair of Japanese sailors from now on.
