The origin of the name “Ichinomiya”!?
A historic power spot

This shrine is a power spot located in the center of Ichinomiya City, with 1.2 million visitors every year. It was called “Ichinomiya” (the first shrine) because it was the first shrine visited by the provincial governor of Owari Province during the Heian period (794–1185), and this is the origin of the city’s current name. Within the shrine precincts, there are various spots, such as “Shinsuisha” (purification fountain), where visitors peek into the well and see their face on the surface of the water to pray for their health and family safety, and “Hatori Shrine,” which is said to bring good luck in marriage, and “Omokaru Stone,” which is said to make a person’s wish come true if they feel light when they lift it.
