In the 12th edition, players of the DENSO Bright Pegasus, a women’s softball team based in Anjo City in the Japan Diamond Softball League (JD.League) introduce must-visit spots in Anjo City.

DENSO Bright Pegasus

The JD.League is now about to enter a new season. Let’s keep our eyes on a fresh start of the DENSO Bright Pegasus!

The DENSO Bright Pegasus was founded in 1960. The team has a history of winning the All Japan Women’s National Championship and the Japan Softball League, and it is currently a prestigious team playing in the JD.League, the highest-level women’s softball league in Japan. Since the team moved its base from Kariya City, where DENSO is headquartered, to Anjo City in 2015, it has been engaged in its daily activities to become more familiar to the local community. For the 2025 season, which will start in April, the team has set a goal of advancing to the playoffs. Let’s keep our eyes on how the DENSO Bright Pegasus will get off to a fresh start with new members.

Denpark

You can see seasonal flowers in bloom at every corner in this large park.
Access: Immediately from the Denpark bus stop on the Ankuru Bus Sakurai Nishi Line from Meitetsu Sakurai Station
Flower theme park where you can enjoy yourselves fully

This is a theme park featuring flowers and greenery. Gardens spreading throughout the park are filled with approximately 300,000 flowering plants of about 3,300 species in bloom throughout the year. In addition to flowers and greenery, the park also provides many other attractions, including events, hands-on experience programs, gourmet food, and shopping. Everyone can enjoy their day here to the fullest, regardless of age.

A bus named Märchen-go, which is designed like a locomotive, makes circuits of the park. It is very popular with all visitors, from children to adults.
In the outdoor BBQ garden Picnic, you can enjoy having a BBQ with your family members and friends even without carrying anything from your home.

Pekinhan is a comfort food for the people of Anjo. It also embodies the restaurant’s commitment to local food production and consumption, with all rice, pork, and eggs used being from Aichi Prefecture.

Most of them order Pekinhan, a very filling dish of rice topped with fluffy and creamy scrambled eggs and crispy deep-fried pork. Sea and Farm Kitchen Cocopelli Shrimp

At lunchtime, you can enjoy a healthy set meal full of plenty of vegetables.

Body- and mind-friendly café devoted to local food production and consumption

The term “Cocopelli” in the café’s name comes from “Kokopelli,” the name of a deity of fertility and blessings venerated by ancient native Americans. This café serves dishes and sweets that are friendly not only to the body and mind but also to local food production and consumption, using plenty of locally grown ingredients, such as Okumikawa Jidori chicken and Chita beef. The woody interior of the café creates a warm, homey atmosphere. Fujimoto herself says: “I just can’t help staying at the café for a long time.” Why not visit the café to enjoy the flavors of foods from Mikawa?

Ideal destination for lovers of tasty meat

The restaurant’s concept is “a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant loved by locals.” The meat it serves, which is prepared with great care by a chef who trained at a Japanese cuisine restaurant, is reputed as superb. The most popular item here is nama-tan, or raw beef tongue. This dish, which Kiyose says is her favorite, is the restaurant’s specialty, featuring a taste so delicious that you will never forget it. Another recommended item is roast beef, a roast block of Japanese Black Cattle beef, to which a careful finishing touch is added in front of you.

Anjo City General Sports Park

Track and field stadium, where modern pentathlon events will take place during the Asian Games

A sports park where Asian Games events will be held

This general sports park comprises various sports facilities, including a track and field stadium and a softball stadium (DENSO Bright Pegasus Stadium), both of which will be used as venues at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games for the modern pentathlon and softball, respectively. Equipped also with playground slides shaped like an octopus and a whale, which are popular among children, the park also provides a place of relaxation for citizens of Anjo.
