Volleyball and Komaki City

Komaki is a city located in the northwestern area of Aichi Prefecture. With an airport and highway, it has an easy access to other cities both in and out of the prefecture. There is so much to see and enjoy from the sports complex “Park Arena Komaki” to the historic sites of Oda Nobunaga, and you can’t miss the art, local cuisines and confections.

PARK ARENA KOMAKI

With the main arena that has a capacity of around 5,000 people, there is also a soccer field and a gym. It holds various games and matches, including V league (volleyball games), and also exhibitions. It plays a roll to connect sports and cultural activities.

Mount Komaki

The site of the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute.

Mount Komaki is where the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute took place in 1584. This was a battle between Hashiba Hideyoshi (later becomes Toyotomi Hideyoshi) and Tokugawa Ieyasu. The now gone original Komakiyama Castle was used as a base by Oda Nobunaga who was seeking Mino. The mountain is now topped with the Komaki City History Museum, where you can learn the history of Komaki through the excavated items and displays. You can also purchase their original items.

 
 

Tagata Jinja Shrine

The whole world is attracted by this unforgettable and extraordinary power spot.

A shrine to pray for rich harvest and family prosperity. It is said to bring blessings such as romance, pregnancy, safe delivery, good relationships and happy marriages. The Honen festival, also called “Tenka no Chinsai” meaning “the most unique festival in the country”, is held on the 15th May every year, gathers many tourists from all over Japan and the World.
 
 

Menard Art Museum

Beauty and Art create a relaxing atmosphere in nature.

A large zelkova tree stands as the symbol of this museum, which has collected more than 1,500 pieces of artwork, paintings, sculptures and crafts. From the 2nd January 2020 to 8th March 2020, an art collection exhibition “Gakubuchi no mukou no Ongaku (Music Behind the Picture Frame)” will be held, where you can enjoy paintings with a musical point of view. The painters include Maurice Denis and Paul Gauguin.

Matsunaga Seika Company Store

Nothing better than the selection at a directly managed confectionery shop.

A confectionery shop directly managed by Matsunaga Seika, which headquarters is located in Komaki City. “Shirukosand” is one of their popular products. The delicate and creamy “Nama-Shirukosand”, and the region exclusive “Star Shirukosand Matcha” are some of the rare items you will find at this shop.

Savory stone grilled Komaki’s original Junkei (pure) Cochin Chicken.

A restaurant with a menu filled with Cochin Chicken cuisines. Their popular “Stone Grilled Cochin Chicken”, chicken served with a heated natural stone to grill, is definitely a must-eat dish. This cuisine is prepared with only the hens before laying eggs, bred in a particular method.
